Our school has introduced a culinary arts vocational training course catering to secondary education students (grades six to eleven). Held outside normal school hours, the course aims to develop essential culinary skills. Under the guidance of experienced chefs, students engage in hands-on training covering basic cooking techniques and culinary principles. Exceptional students receive advanced training in specialized fields such as pastry or international cuisine. Beyond skill development, the school provides catering services for community events. Orders for various cake creations, pastries, etc., are accepted. Students actively participate in menu planning, food preparation, and presentation, offering real-world application of their culinary knowledge. Revenue generated from these catering services contributes to funding additional resources for the school, creating a self-sustaining model benefiting both the students and the institution. This culinary initiative not only empowers students with practical skills but also seamlessly aligns with the school's commitment to offering a well-rounded and high-quality education for all.
In a comprehensive effort, our school is passionately engaging in the cultivation, training, and marketing of Anthurium exotic hybrids. Modern techniques and support from Peradeniya Botanical Gardens ensure optimal growth, with a focus on fostering environmental awareness among students. The initiative extends beyond cultivation, aiming to develop students' attitudes towards the environment and providing opportunities for self-employment through floriculture. Income from plant sales will contribute to educational development, creating a sustainable cycle of learning and growth. Particularly noteworthy is the emphasis on teaching Anthurium cultivation to hearing-impaired children, fostering inclusivity and skill development. The commitment to delivering high-quality plants to the market aligns with the broader goal of shaping students into environmentally conscious individuals, equipped with practical and theoretical knowledge for future job opportunities. This holistic approach not only benefits the students but also aims to secure essential financial support for the continuous improvement of our school.
Empowering Students with Essential Life Skills.. In an effort to enhance the practical skills of secondary education students (grades six to eleven), our school has introduced a Tailoring Vocational Training Course. Conducted in the evenings after regular school hours, this course focuses on teaching sewing, a fundamental life skill. Under the guidance of a trained professional, all students undergo basic sewing training, with a special emphasis on those who display a keen interest. Select students are provided with advanced Juki machine training, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of tailoring techniques. Beyond skill development, the school accepts tailoring orders, particularly for items like T-shirts, jackets, and buttons. Students are meticulously trained to meet industry standards in preparing these items. The revenue generated from these orders is earmarked for the continuous improvement of the students' educational experience. This initiative not only equips students with practical skills but also contributes to the school's commitment to fostering a holistic and quality education for all.
